If you wish to succeed (in the realization of your Self) you yourself have to acquire the ‘Sadhana Sampathi’ (the means to attain the goal). Did Sri Rama provide any boat to Hanuman when the latter wished to cross the ocean?

In order to make the disciple imbibe the qualities of gentleness and selflessness, the Guru sometimes puts up a show of the negative qualities of harshness and selfishness. Just to cure the illness of the child fed on breast-milk. Does not the mother take herself the bitter medicine?

Neetimala – 99

Just as a sick man after his cure is freed (from treatment), even so, a disciple becomes free when there remains nothing in him to be taken out by the Guru.

Neetimala – 98

Guru alone can decide what is to be taken ot from the disciple. The cultivator alone can know the plants that are to be weeded out from the field and not the cow that grazes on it.

Surrender to your Guru not your trivial wealth, but the pride of possession of your wealth, land, learning etc. A devotee does his puja (worship) only with the flowers and not with the slender branchlets on which they have grown.

Every one has the right to breathe the air around him. In the same way every one has the privilege to get initiated by the Guru. But only those few, who take Guru’s initiation and work for the good of their fellow-men, get elevated and reach the highest place as do the rain-bearing clouds reach the heights in the skies.

The fees to the teacher imparting secular knowledge is fixed by agreement between the teacher and the taught. But in spiritual realm the teacher accepts as his fees only the disciple’s utmost earnestness in pursing the path of Sadhana (spiritual practice) in spite of its rigorous.

By merely proclaiming to your Guru that you are his disciple you do not become so. The status of a minister or a messenger is conferred on one by the king (and not by oneself).

Those customs and traditions that have undergone distortion in course of time, although they have been followed by generations in succession, are to be given up. Would a mother hold in her womb the embryo that makes dreadful movements?

Dharma is one and constant. Its character is to uphold the creation. It cannot be determined by performing hundreds of external rituals. So follow ‘Manava Dharma’ (Religion of Humanity) which never becomes the cause of hatred of any kind.

People formed different nations and religions to suit their needs. But now these are becoming the causes of mutual hatred and bloodshed. If the sun itself is spreading darkness, what shall we say!

What is righteous in one place and time may not be so in another place and time. What is the cause for this, place or time? O, friend, both are nto the causes. If a work is done motivated by a good thought it becomes a righteous one at all times and places.

What is the form and what is the name of that which exists even in a minute atom. People of different climes and times give different names and forms to it in conformity with their inclination.

The extremists who are deluded under the impression that they are always right should not be regarded as thieves and other criminals. There may be some truth in their stand. Just as rheumatic diseases are cured by applying “Sneha” (oil to the affected parts), the extremists are to be brought to the correct path thru ‘sneha’, (love).

If you want to be successful in the household arena first accept defeat bravely. That person, whether husband or wife, who gets defeated (in the beginning) later rules the household.

A woman is respectable merely by her class (womanhood) whereas a man deserves respect only if he possesses good qualities.
